Located ocean side, in the centre of the Algarve is the town of Albufeira. Since ancient times, Albufeira is one of the most renowned fishing and maritime ports in Portugal. With the passing of the Romans, it was the Arabs who left their footprint on this important village, originally naming the area “Al-buhera” which resembled “The sea castle”. The Arabs dominated this rich land for over five decades until it was conquered by the Christians. Due to an earthquake and consequently flooding in 1504, the town of Albufeira was devastated. The town Albufeira was then reborn, rich in commercialization of seafood and dried fruit, reintegrated Albufeira as of one of the most sort after destinations.

Annabel Craft Tennis Academy
The Tennis Centre, located on the beautifully landscaped grounds of Pine Cliffs Resort, features five floodlit courts – two clay and three all-weather hard courts – ideal for day or night time play. The premier tennis courts are managed by Annabel Croft Tennis Academy* along with the resort’s friendly staff who are happy to arrange matches for solo players as well as fun clinics to guests of all ages and skill levels.
Players wishing to play tennis at Pine Cliffs can choose from a range of coaching organised and conducted by the qualified team of coaches at the Annabel Croft Tennis Academy*. The academy programme has a wide selection of coaching courses available for both adults and children which cover all aspects of the game and are a great way to improve your tennis.
Each session is delivered using a selection of specifically designed drills and exercises that are challenging but ultimately rewarding and each group is carefully managed, with low numbers of players in each group to maximise your coaching experience. The Tennis Centre is open daily. Our Concierge is pleased to confirm court times, tennis tuition/clinics, and racket and balls are also available for hire.
Pine Cliffs Golf Course & Golf Academy
The immaculate Pine Cliffs Golf Course lies perched 200 feet above the golden sands and blue water of the Atlantic Ocean. The location of the resort is unique. It extends across 168 acres of naturally beautiful land set above a stunning cliff top, beneath lies an expanse of golden sand beach and the deep blue water of the Atlantic Ocean. The dark red of the sandstone cliffs contrasts sharply with the immaculate green of the golf course above and the sparkling blue ocean below.
This is one of the country’s most original golf courses, built in a pinewood setting, with tree lined fairways running parallel along the Atlantic Ocean, giving it’s guests breathtaking views along the Algarvian coastline. Architect Martin Hawtree’s main concern was to keep the natural surroundings as it was before the course was built.
The jewel of this perfectly kept course is the Par 3 sixth hole. The championship tee, known as the Devil’s Parlour, is built over a ravine that requires a 198 metre carrying shot over the cliffs to a deep but narrow green.
Superbly equipped with the latest technology in teaching systems the Golf Academy is manned by a team of Internationally Qualified PGA Professionals with a combined experience of over 20 years of teaching. The Pine Cliffs Golf Academy team offers a tuition service second to none for all parts of the game. The dedicated short game practice area is specifically designed to aid the beginner, improver or experienced golfers to long lasting enjoyment of the game of golf.
Health & Fitness Club
Guests of the hotel are welcome to use the facilities of the Health and Fitness Club with our compliments. The 125 square metre on-site facility features the latest Technogym equipment including treadmills and elliptical machines complete with television and radio. Special exercise classes such as water aerobics are offered and may be pre-booked in advance subject to availability. A personal trainer is also available for a nominal fee to customise an exercise programme just for you.
The Health and Fitness Club also features a sauna and Jacuzzi as well as an indoor swimming pool, ideal for laps and other water exercises. To guarantee the well-being and comfort of all guests, the use of swimming cap is mandatory at the indoor pool.
Three massage rooms are havens of tranquillity with a variety of massages, body treatments and exotic rituals dispensed at the hands of specialised therapists. Beauty Salon offers a full range of services, from manicures and pedicures to hair styling and coluoring.

Porto Pirata & Junior’s Club
Imagine the wonder of your child exploring a playground filled with two life-size wooden pirate ships – complete with an endless view of the Atlantic Ocean from their perch high atop the cliffs of the Algarve.
The multi-functional ships anchor the incredibly spacious Porto Pirata, the hotel’s 7000 square metre on-site children’s village for children ages six months to eight years. Supervised by an experienced and well-qualified staff, children enjoy their own adventures complete with a bouncing castle, basketball court, mini track for big-wheel toys, scooters and bikes, a swimming pool just for kids, and an 18-hole mini-golf course to entertain the whole family.
Daily activities are organised by age and include finger painting, arts and crafts, treasure hunts, water games, face painting and various sporting activities. The program and outdoor facilities is offered to all guests, with some activities within the program, incurring a nominal charge.
The ‘teen’ set, ages 8 to 13 years old, will love our Junior’s Club with supervised activities designed just for them. Kids enjoy mini-golf, football, crossbow and aim shooting, water ball, darts and disc bowls and much more.
