We recommend you visit them both, to buy special gifts and get into the christmas spirit.
Christmas Market in Quinta de Lago
Quinta do Lago’s Conrad Algarve is again preparing for its popular Christmas Market, this year taking place on Sunday, December 18, from 10.30am to 6.30pm. The festive spirit will be celebrated “in style” at the Conrad, with organisers promising visitors a variety of festive activities and exhibitor stalls selling local products, handicrafts and traditional food and drink. The Conrad Christmas Market is again challenging all residents to show off their baking skills during the “Bake Off” Competition. Take along your festive dessert and recipe by 2pm on the day and let the panel of judges decide on the winning creation based on “taste, presentation and creativity”. The winner will receive a weekend for two at the Conrad Algarve, including one dinner at Louro Restaurant and a bottle of wine chosen by the head sommelier. To participate in the “Bake Off” Competition, email experiences.conradalgarve@conradhotels.com All proceeds from the Conrad Christmas Market will be in aid of ACCA, an association supporting children in need in the Algarve. Stand prices start from €50. To book a stand, call Wanda on 919 617 995 or email accakid@gmail.com
Christmas Market in Lagos
After luring visitors to Lagos last year with a selection of delicious festive foods, the municipal market in Lagos is again hosting another edition of its Christmas Market (Natal no Mercado) between Friday, December 16 and Sunday, December 18. Regional sweets, “winter drinks” such as mulled wine and hot cocoa, tapas, cheeses and a selection of wines are just a few examples of the products that will be sold at the market. Around 20 stalls will also be selling handicrafts, clothing made by local companies, and a variety of Christmas gifts. Santa will, of course, be there on all three days to take pictures with the children and receive their Letters to Santa, while musical performances are also on the agenda. The event is organised by Food Tours Algarve and the goal is “not so much to organise a Christmas fair but to give the local population a reason to come together, enjoy good food and get into the festive spirit,” said organiser Maria Nobre de Carvalho. “Last year the feedback was so positive that we felt we had to hold another ‘Natal no Mercado’ event,” she added. Doors open on Friday at 4pm and close on Sunday at midnight. Entrance is free.
